‘Tis The Season To Be Merry

As the shopping days wind down, and the baking gets turned up I am constantly reminded of what this holiday is all about.

We are spending the holiday with family, as we do every year.  And every year, there is some sort of dramatic scene that takes place.  What I have found is that my family isn’t the only family that experiences this sort of holiday.  One of my favorite movies is the wildly popular National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.  This movie does a wonderful job of displaying the hilarity of the typical American family during the holidays.  And while I can quote the entire movie, and I laugh along every time, the fact that these things have become the norm is sad. Rejoice And Sing!

Monkeys Christmas program was last night and Monga, Papa and Aunt Sarah were able to join us.  Monkey did a ’sneak preview’ of one of the songs before we left the house and I was so excited to see what was to come.  We dressed Caterpillar in a ‘tux’ that was given to us by Daddy’s boss.  I thought it was a great time to break in the outfit, since it was likely going to be his biggest event of the year. Fa La La La La, La La La La

At our last MOPS meeting we had a speaker talk to us about depression.  As most of you know, depression runs in my family and I feel I am always two steps closer to that edge than I would like to be.  At the time, I was feeling pretty good and even when I do get a little down, I know God has a plan for my happiness and I can usually bounce back pretty quick.

The leadership at MOPS held a fun night out for the group, and I had planned on going, but then just couldn’t get there.  Monkey has been toying with a low grade fever and runny nose, but in reality I could have given her to Daddy and he would have been just fine.  So why did I use her as an excuse to stay home?  No idea.
