Hey Good Lookin, What Cha Got Cookin?

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

We had given Caterpillar a quick wipe down a couple of days ago, but today was his first official bath.  We pulled out Monkey’s old tub to discover the seal isn’t working, therefore it needs to be replaced.

As I rummaged through the cabinets looking for a quick replacement, I spotted the pasta bowl.  I remember I had searched high and low for a bowl big enough for our love for Italian food, as well as something I could entertain in.  I found a soup bowl with a ladle at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and it was on clearance.  I was on a shopping high the day I scored the bowl, and I have loved it as my pasta bowl ever since.

After re-purposing it today, I am sure I will love this bowl for many more years to come. (more…)

Cut The Cord Already!

My induction started Saturday night with a suppository that started pretty regular contractions.  However, in true Chillemi fashion, since Caterpillar wasn’t putting his head down, they were fun for mom, yet totally useless.  By the time I was ready for a sleeping pill, it was too late and the IV drip needed to start.

Once that got rolling, the contractions were stronger, and progress was underway.  It wasn’t long after that my epidural was in place and I was loving life.  With Monkey my epidural didn’t work on the left side, so this euphoria was something I had only experienced previously in college.  And I am pretty sure it’s still not legal in these parts. The Final Countdown

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Now that we are in the final countdown, I have been trying to coordinate everyone in the family to have people arrive on time for the big show, but not have to wait in the waiting room for hours on end.  I have been working to get our pets cared for while we are away, Monkey juggled around, and maintain bed rest since my numbers haven’t looked that great lately.

Daddy’s co-workers surprised him with a baby celebration today, including cinnamon rolls and a gift card to Starbucks (since we won’t be sleeping much pretty soon).  As part of the party, they did a mad lib.  That reminded me of all the silly games we used to play as kids on long car rides, so I thought I would summarize what’s going on with us with a silly countdown:

Ready… Set… GO!

We are going to be induced 10 days before my birthday, and will likely deliver 9 days before Caterpillars due date.  We check into the hospital on the 8th of November at 7pm.  Daddy will have 6 weeks of paternity leave.  There are 5 people from MOPS bringing us meals after I deliver to help out our new family of 4.  Daddy will be completely off for 3 weeks, then goes back part time.  When we get home we will have 2 weeks to figure out our Thanksgiving plans and hopefully 1 happy and healthy baby!

See ya’ll at the finish line!
